Optimizing Loft and Efficiency: Technical Insights into the Wadding Production Line with Single Layer Oven

In the nonwoven fiber processing industry, the wadding production line's thermal bonding method directly dictates the loft and physical stability of the finished product. By utilizing a Single Layer Oven configuration, the production line precisely transforms 1D to 25D chemical fibers into high-quality soft wadding with thicknesses ranging from 50–80 mm. This process not only meets the rigorous resilience requirements of apparel and home textiles but also demonstrates superior engineering advantages in energy efficiency and operational simplicity.

STRUCTURAL COMPARISON: SINGLE LAYER VS. MULTI-LAYER OVENS

The choice of oven structure in a wadding production line typically balances product quality with factory space constraints. Compared to space-saving but complex multi-layer ovens, the single-layer oven offers a more linear web transport path. Within this horizontal configuration, the fiber web remains flat throughout the process, effectively preventing stretching or thickness loss that often occurs during directional changes in multi-layer systems.

Uniformity of heat penetration is maximized in single-layer designs. Due to the straightforward air ducting, heated air can penetrate the fiber web at a constant pressure. This ensures that soft wadding with a surface density of 250–300 gsm experiences minimal temperature variance between the surface and the core, preventing quality defects such as localized hardening or insufficient bulkiness.

PHYSICAL PROPERTY CONTROL: IMPACT OF AIRFLOW STRUCTURE ON QUALITY

The core of the wadding production line lies in the through-air bonding mechanism. Inside the single-layer oven, the angle and velocity of the heated air jets are precisely calculated to match line speeds of 3–15 m/min. As the hot air penetrates the web containing low-melt fibers, fiber intersections fuse rapidly, forming a stable 3D matrix.

Consistency in thickness and resilience is directly influenced by airflow pressure. The single-layer oven allows for more flexible independent temperature zone control. Operators can adjust the airflow in each drying section based on the specific 1D–25D fiber blend. This precision ensures that products between 50–80 mm thick possess excellent air-trapping capabilities, significantly enhancing the CLO value (thermal insulation coefficient) for apparel filling.

ENERGY LOGIC: THERMAL LOSS AND STRUCTURAL EFFICIENCY

Thermal consumption accounts for a significant portion of the operating costs for a wadding production line. Single-layer ovens are easier to optimize for hermetic sealing and lack the complex reversing transmission mechanisms found in multi-layer types, thereby reducing energy loss from friction and heat leakage. At a production capacity of 150–600 kg/h, the single-layer structure achieves more efficient heat recirculation, lowering the electrical and thermal input per unit.

Maintenance and stability are also core values of the single-layer design. The simplified mechanical structure translates to lower failure rates and easier internal cleaning. When processing wide products up to 3800 mm, the single-layer oven provides stable support, ensuring load balance for the 380V 3-phase power system during long-term, heavy-duty operation.

ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS: MEETING HIGH-END MARKET STANDARDS

Products from the wadding production line are extensively used in premium quilts, winter clothing filling, and various soft acoustic materials. With its ability to process diverse raw materials like polyester or cashmere-imitation fibers, the line can be customized with bale opening or specialized mixing systems. This flexibility, combined with the process stability of the single-layer oven, makes this equipment a vital asset for enterprises pursuing high-quality fiber manufacturing.
